Specialized Services: Professional and Creative Writing
This service is for writing projects that will be submitted to professional audiences within or outside the university setting. WEX editors provide excellent services at a reasonable rate of $50/hour for Antioch clients and $65/hour for non-Antioch clients.
You've invested time writing a manuscript and need a fresh pair of eyes to ensure its success. Whether it's a short story, journal article, book manuscript, or applications for further study or internships, you want a polished document to submit to publishers and/or new audiences.
Whatever your writing needs, WEX editors are here to help. Our staff are PhD editors/coaches and professionally certified editors. We offer a variety of services, including:
- Deep Editing for content to provide feedback on writing elements such as organization, clarity of content, development of character or ideas. Perhaps a publisher is asking for revisions, or others have noted that you need to go deeper in your analysis or delete repetition. This type of review is best done before the document is complete or submitted to the committee or publisher.
- Copy Editing for writing style, sentence-level revisions, transitions, and word choice. This careful review is best done near the end of the writing process, prior to submission to your chair and/or the final defense.
- Format/Style Editing to adjust the formatting of your document according to a specific format and style sheet. This format editing is best accomplished with a final draft of the manuscript. All content, including in-text citations, should be in place before requesting this service.
Pricing and Payments:
- Regardless of the service requested, all are charged the same hourly rate.
- Documents longer than 10 pages require a two hour deposit. Documents shorter than 10 pages require a one hour deposit.
Turnaround Time:
- WEX editors will complete your requested work in about 10 business days (2 weeks), unless the document requires extensive additional work; in that case, WEX will contact you before proceeding.
- WEX is closed on weekends. All submissions on weekends are considered submitted on the following business day.
