Professional coaching services are available at $65/hour. 

The WEX Writing Coach will provide substantive writing support and consultation for the writing of a thesis/dissertation and/or professional material (including websites and journal articles). This professional writing support guides writers in any stage of the writing process: from early outlining of ideas to final revision for readability. The WEX Writing Coach provides support for developing content, organizing ideas, and revising for greater clarity, as well as line editing for format, correct grammar, and conventions. 

WEX Writing Coaches are experts in writing and have PhDs, so they understand intimately the challenges of writing dissertations and academic articles. They are here to support you in all stages of the writing process. For many, submitting a draft helps the WEX Writing Coach understand your particular writing needs; however, other writers appreciate the value of consulting with a Writing Coach to define writing goals and support. 

Once payment is received, WEX will contact you and introduce you to your coach. WEX does not offer refunds of payments for any proofreading, editing, or coaching services, but any credit balance may be used for future editing. WEX expects clients to notify their coaches before 24 hours for any changes to appointments. Cancellations of scheduled appointments without the required 24 hour notice may incur the hourly charge.

Coaching services are available at $55/hour for Antioch students and alumni.

Writing Coaches are especially helpful for those "high stakes" writings, such as  a book manuscript or a dissertation. With doctoral students, a coach can help them organize their research and prepare to write the dissertation. 

Submitting a draft of whatever writing you want help with guides the WEX Writing Coach  in understanding your particular writing needs; however, other writers appreciate the value of consulting with a Writing Coach to  define writing goals and support. 

This option is available to Antioch Students and Alumni only at this discounted rate. You may begin with one hour and take it from there, or you might want to schedule a month of meetings to keep the momentum going. Whatever you decide, we're here to help you.

WEX editors provide excellent services at a reasonable $55 per-hour rate for doctoral students. Since most manuscripts/proposals/theses/dissertations consume over 5 hours of review, we ask that you submit a deposit of $275 for 5 hours.

We know that other editing services charge by the word, but we've decided that the per hour rate is the most economically sound. On staff are PhD editors/coaches and professionally certified editors. We offer a variety of services, including: 

• Editing for content to provide feedback on writing elements such as organization, clarity of content,  specificity of research design and methods, sentence-level revisions, and word choice. This is best done before the document is complete.
• Development Editing to help with structure and content development of your project. Whether it's a novel or an academic project, the editor will provide the critical feedback to tighten the plot structure and characterization or support you in identifying the key components for content development of academic texts. This service is best accompanied with a minimum of 1 hour coaching. 
• Light proofreading to correct typos, grammar and punctuation, wrong words, and other minor errors at the sentence level. This is best done on a completed manuscript/dissertation when major revisions are no longer likely.
• Format/Style Editing to adjust the formatting of your document according to a specific format and style sheet. This format editing is best accomplished with a final draft of the manuscript. You are expected to have all content, including in-text citations, in place before requesting this service. 
• Combined Proofreading and Format Editing: a completed dissertation/manuscript benefits from a  complete examination of format and proofreading to ensure that what is submitted is a polished finalized text. 

For each of these, we provide a document with tracked changes for you to review and accept. When your manuscript is completed, WEX will contact you by email should additional payment be required. Once any additional payments are received, your manuscript will be sent via email. If no additional payment is required, your project will be sent directly to you. Any balance remaining may be used for resubmission or for new documents. WEX does not offer refunds of payments for any of its services.

Since most manuscripts/theses/dissertations consume over 5 hours of review, we ask that you submit a deposit of $225 for 5 hours. If your dissertation is well over 200 pages and you know it needs substantial edits throughout, please submit for 10 hours.

• Combined Proofreading and Format Editing: a manuscript benefits from a complete examination of format and proofreading to ensure that what is submitted is a polished, finalized text. Available only to manuscripts previously edited by WEX. 

Pricing and Payments. Regardless of the services requested, all are charged the same hourly rate. 

• All WEX services are on a prepaid basis. A deposit must be received before services will rendered. Additional charges will be billed to the student upon completion of the editing.
• Documents longer than 10 pages require a two hour deposit.
• Documents shorter than 10 pages require a one hour deposit.
• Clients understand that the deposit is to initiate the editing transaction and that they are responsible for full payment of the contracted work, understanding that documents can consume more than the deposited amount. 
• Once completed and fully paid, reviews will be returned via email and attached to the submission in Submittable. 
• In the event that a project takes less time than expected, you will be issued a credit balance that may be applied to future WEX services. Please note that that WEX does not offer refunds for proofreading, editing, or coaching services.

The hourly rate is $40, and we require a deposit for 5 hours for most manuscripts around 200 pages, and this deposit could satisfy the total cost depending on the amount of corrections.  Should the dissertation require more time, WEX will contact you about further costs. 

This service is restricted to dissertations that have been edited for format by the Writers' Exchange. The WEX editor will correct your entire manuscript  with the exception of those areas that only the student can correct; such as, elements of the references and citations. Generally, WEX editors complete the full edit within a week. We also provide a "rush order" should you need your document corrected within 72 hours. 

If interested, please submit your dissertation in both the final Word document and the WEX edited PDF. Please add any other relevant documents. For example, a Word document listing all missing information identified by the previous editor (citations & references).  Once received, WEX will forward your file to the WEX Correction Editor.

This service is for those interested in transforming their dissertations into other manuscripts such as journal articles or books written for a new audience. 

Taking the academic manuscript of the dissertation and creating another document requires a certain amount of transformation. It certainly requires an ability to copy edit a lengthy manuscript of disparate parts in such a way that it becomes a readable text tailored to a new audience. WEX PhD Coaches have the editing expertise and breadth of writing exposure to help you meet this goal. 

This service includes six hours of support split between coaching and editing, depending on your needs, which can be dispersed however you choose throughout the process. This may include brainstorming sessions to help you decide on your goals, review of resources available, and/or editing of manuscript drafts. You will communicate directly with your editor throughout the development of the manuscript. Depending on the length of the project there might be further editing costs, but WEX will keep you apprised throughout the process should your editor recommend additional services.
