Deep editing and coaching services are available at $65/hour.
WEX's editors and writing coaches provide writers with substantive writing support and consultation. This deep editing support guides writers in any stage of the writing process including early outlining of ideas, developing content, organizing ideas, revising for greater clarity, line editing for grammar and conventions, and final revision for readability.
WEX coaches have expertise in multiple writing genres: from academic to business to creative manuscripts. They are here to support you in all stages of the writing process and are especially helpful for those "high stakes" writings such as book manuscripts or dissertations. Coaches can help doctoral students organize their research and prepare to write their dissertation.
You can submit a draft of your writing project for feedback and review and/or consult with a coach to define your writing goals and support. You can begin with a 1 hour consultation or schedule a month of meetings to keep the momentum going. Whatever you decide, we're here to help you.
Once payment is received, WEX will contact you and introduce you to your coach. Any credit balance may be used for future editing as WEX does not offer refunds of payments for any proofreading, editing, or coaching services. WEX expects clients to notify their coaches before 24 hours for any changes to appointments. Cancellations of scheduled appointments without the required 24 hour notice may incur the hourly charge.
WEX editors and coaches provide excellent services at a reasonable $55 per-hour rate. Most manuscripts/theses/dissertations that are approximately 200 pages take about 5 hours to review, and we recommend a deposit of 5 hours. If your dissertation is well over 200 pages and you know it needs substantial edits throughout, please submit for 6-10 hours.
You've worked hard and want a fresh pair of eyes to review your work. Whether it's a proposal or the full dissertation/thesis, final project paper leading to certification, or a selection of your creative writing, you want a polished manuscript to appeal to your audience. WEX editors are here to help.
On staff are PhD editors/coaches who offer a variety of services, including:
- Organizing ideas and content
- Copy Editing for writing style, sentence-level revisions, transitions, and word choice. This careful review is best done near the end of the writing process, prior to submission to your chair and/or the final defense.
- Format/Style Editing to adjust the formatting of your document according to a specific format and style sheet. This format editing is best accomplished with a final draft of the manuscript. All content, including in-text citations, should be in place before requesting this service.
If additional time is needed to complete the requested work, WEX will contact you before proceeding. You can opt to have your documents returned to you at that point, or if you authorize additional time to complete the work, WEX will invoice you for the difference. WEX does not offer refunds of payments for any services, so any remaining balances can be used on future WEX submissions.
Turnaround Time:
- WEX editors will complete your requested work in about 10 business days (2 weeks), unless the document requires extensive additional work; in that case, WEX will contact you before proceeding.
- WEX is closed on weekends. All submissions on weekends are considered submitted on the following business day.
- WEX offers an expedited editing option in limited cases for an additional charge of $50 - $100, depending on length of manuscript, for completion within 5 business days (1 week) following the submission date.
Rush Editing Fee:
$50: up to 100 pages
$100: up to 225 pages
The hourly rate is $45. We recommend a deposit for 5 hours for manuscripts around 200 pages; however, if your dissertation is more or less than 200 pages, you are welcome to submit for more or less hours (minimum is 1 hour). Should the dissertation require more time, WEX will contact you about further costs.
This service is restricted to Antioch University students who have completed the first program format review of their dissertation by the Writers' Exchange (WEX). WEX editors will correct your entire manuscript with the exception of those areas that only the student can correct; such as, missing references and missing/incorrect in-text citations. Corrections are generally completed edit within one week (5 business days), but there is a "rush" option for an additional fee should you need your document corrected within 4 business days.
If interested, please upload both the final Word document and the WEX reviewed PDF of your dissertation and any other relevant documents (e.g., a Word document listing all missing information identified by the previous editor [citations & references]).
